Arsenal enter the race to sign 21-year-old FC Barcelona forward – report
Arsenal have asked FC Barcelona about Ousmane Dembele's availability, according to a report in Spain
Arsenal have joined the race to sign France international Ousmane Dembele from FC Barcelona, according to a report in Spain.
Catalan-based media outlet Sport is reporting that the Gunners are interested in a potential swoop to sign the France forward.
The same article states that Arsenal have approached FC Barcelona to ask about the 21-year-old’s availability ahead of the January transfer window.
According to the same story, Unai Emery believes Dembele would be interested in a move to Arsenal given the presence of his close pal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at The Emirates.
Sport go on to suggest Arsenal are in a strong position thanks to their positive relationship with FC Barcelona – Raul Sanllehi is the head of football relations at the Gunners following his previous stint at the La Liga side.
Dembele has failed to make a positive impression at FC Barcelona following his lucrative move to the Catalan side from Borussia Dortmund in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The France forward has struggled with a lack of discipline both on and off the pitch at the La Liga champions to cast doubt his long-term future at Camp Nou.
Arsenal are looking to add more quality to their team in wide areas following Danny Welbeck’s disappointing ankle break in their goalless draw with Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League.
The Gunners will take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
