The pair have found their first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge to be severely restricted this season since Sarri’s appointment as the club’s new manager.
Heading into Chelsea FC’s clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday, Drinkwater’s only appearance for the Blues had come in the 2-0 defeat by Manchester City in the Community Shield back at the start of August.
Meanwhile, Moses’ only start for the west London club this season under Sarri came in the League Cup victory over Liverpool FC back in September.
It is clear that both players have work on their hands if they want to be able to force their way into Sarri’s plans for this season.
And the Chelsea FC manager has now warned both players that they must improve if they want to hold down regular spots in his team this term.
Speaking at a news conference before Chelsea FC’s clash with Palace on Sunday, Sarri was quizzed about the futures of both players.
Asked if the pair still have Chelsea FC futures, Sarri replied: “I don’t know. They have to improve, but the characteristics are a little bit different.”
“The situation is that Drinkwater for me is not suitable for a midfield with two midfielders. I told him two months ago what I think.”
He added: “Moses is more suitable for playing like a wing-back than like a winger or a full-back.”
Chelsea FC will return to Europa League action on Thursday night when they take on BATE Borisov away from home. They will then focus on their home clash against Everton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
