Sky Sports is reporting that the Blues are closing in on a deal to get the key 27-year-old midfielder to commit his long-term future to the west London club.
Kante currently has around two and a half years left to run on his current deal with the Blues after he signed for Chelsea FC from Leicester City back in the summer of 2016.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC are “determined” to keep Kante, who has attracted interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona in the past.
The same article also reports that talks over a new deal for the France midfielder are “ongoing” as the Blues try and get him to commit his future to the Premier League outfit.
Kante has emerged as a key player for Chelsea FC since signing for the Blues back in July 2016.
He helped them to win the Premier League in Antonio Conte’s first campaign in charge, before he also won the FA Cup under the Italian last season.
Kante has been deployed in a more advanced role by new Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri this season.
He has started all 12 of Chelsea FC’s Premier League games this term and has scored one goal and made one assist in the top flight so far under Sarri.
