Pat Nevin has praised Chelsea FC striker Alvaro Morata after the Spanish star’s prolific run of form.

The 26-year-old scored twice in Chelsea FC’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace last weekend thanks to Morata’s brace and Pedro Rodriguez’s late strike.

Morata has netted three goals in his last four outings to build his confidence and momentum at Stamford Bridge after a difficult 18 months in west London.

While the former Juventus striker netted seven times in seven games to make an electric start to his Blues career, the Spain international managed just three times in their last 24 appearances in all competitions.

Morata’s future appeared to be up in the air in the summer when Maurizio Sarri took over the reins from Antonio Conte following the 2017-18 campaign.

However, the ex-Real Madrid striker has enjoyed a new lease of life under Sarri, starting seven of their 11 games in the Premier League this season.

Morata has scored against Arsenal, Southampton, Burnley and Crystal Palace ahead of the west London side’s home clash against Everton on Sunday evening.

Former Blues winger Nevin is encouraged by Morata’s recent upturn in form after coming through a difficult spell at the Stamford Bridge outfit.

“Certainly the goals by Alvaro Morata became a major story and his hit-rate at the moment is exactly what a centre-forward would want,” Nevin wrote in his Chelsea FC column.

“His confidence is growing and although there have been a few missed chances, classically this is not a bad thing for a striker because he is still getting into the right areas.”

Nevin added: “Both goals by the Spaniard had a real striker’s instinct, especially with the first touch on both occasions. The finishes then showed a composure that is always there beside self-belief with the best players.”

Morata has a wealth of experience following two spells at Real Madrid as well as a two-season stint at Juventus.

The Spain international won two La Liga and Serie A titles, the Champions League twice as well as the Copa del Rey and Coppa Italia during his time at both European giants.

Morata got his hands on his first piece of silverware in England after Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
