Eden Hazard gives latest update on Chelsea FC contract situation
The Chelsea FC star isn't thinking about his long-term plans
Eden Hazard has insisted that he is concentrating on performing for Chelsea FC rather than mulling over his long-term future.
The Belgium international has little over 18 months left to run on his current deal with the west London outfit to raise questions about his future.
Hazard has been in discussions with the Blues about a new contract but the Chelsea FC number 10 hasn’t committed his future to the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Chelsea FC could be in a perilous position next summer when Hazard’s deal is left with 12 months to run before their prized asset becomes a free agent.
The west London side had to contend with interest from Champions League holders Real Madrid in the 2018 summer transfer window but a deal didn’t come to fruition.
However, Hazard’s excellent start to the Premier League campaign has only served to fuel speculation that los Blancos could make an offer for the 27-year-old.
The Chelsea FC playmaker has scored seven goals in 11 Premier League games to hit the ground running on Antonio Conte’s replacement Maurizio Sarri.
And Hazard is focused on maintaining his scintillating form for Chelsea FC rather than being distracted by his future.
“I only think about Chelsea now,” Hazard told Sporza as quoted by Metro.
“The competition lasts seven or eight months, after that, I’ll see what happens.”
Chelsea FC were held to a 0-0 draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge last weekend despite Hazard’s return from injury.
The Blues will take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in their next Premier League game on Saturday 24 November.
