Eden Hazard names former Chelsea FC star key to Stamford Bridge transfer
The Chelsea FC star has revealed that Joe Cole played an important role in his transfer to Stamford Bridge in 2012
Eden Hazard has lifted the lid on the role that Joe Cole played in the Belgian’s move to Chelsea FC.
The 27-year-old has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League over the past six seasons at the west London outfit.
Hazard moved to Chelsea FC in a big-money deal from Lille despite interest from Manchester City and Manchester United in the Belgium playmaker.
Indeed, the west London side were the reigning Champions League title holders when Hazard arrived at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea FC number 10 played alongside Hazard at Lille for one season in the 2011-12 campaign after falling out of favour at Liverpool FC.
Despite being contracted by the Merseyside club at the time of his loan, Hazard has revealed that Cole was urging the exciting Belgian talent to move to Chelsea FC.
“I spoke to him before I signed for Chelsea,” Hazard is quoted as saying by Metro. “Every day, seriously, he was telling me that Chelsea was the best club for me.
“He said Chelsea was a big club where you can win trophies every season. For that reason I signed, so thank you, Joe Cole.”
Hazard has become a key member of the Chelsea FC team since his switch to Stamford Bridge in 2012.
While the Blues forward is still waiting to get his hands on the Champions League trophy, Hazard has won two Premier League titles, the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
The Blues forward has scored 97 times in 313 games in all competitions for the west London side and will be hoping to get his century of Chelsea FC goals in the coming month.
Chelsea FC are in third place in the Premier League table after a 0-0 draw with Everton last weekend.
