The France international has been a huge hit at Stamford Bridge since his £34m move to Chelsea FC from Leicester City in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Kante earned a move to west London after the defensive midfielder helped Leicester City to win an unprecedented Premier League title in 2015-16.
The 27-year-old wasted no time in having a huge impact at Stamford Bridge after Kante won the PFA player of the year award in 2017 following Chelsea FC’s title success.
He added to his silverware collection last season when the Blues were 1-0 winners against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May.
Kante signed a new long-term deal with the west London side ahead of Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Tottenham.
Unsurprisingly given his stature and style of play, Kante has earned favourable comparisons to former Chelsea FC and Real Madrid midfielder Makelele.
Ex-Blues striker Hasselbaink believes Kante has reached Makelele’s level at Stamford Bridge.
“Kante is exceptional and so was Makelele but Kante is more explosive and is playing one position higher up now and Makelele wouldn’t have been able to play in that position,” said Hasselbaink, speaking exclusively to 888sport.
“Makelele was just a specialist in the one position and he did that absolutely magnificently. You didn’t see him but if he didn’t play the team missed him significantly.”
The holding midfielder has scored four goals in 105 games for the west London side.
The Chelsea FC star was part of the France team that won the World Cup in the summer thanks to a 4-2 victory over Croatia in the final.
