The Blues have been in decent form under the Italian boss since his appointment as Antonio Conte’s successor at Stamford Bridge back in July.
The west London side had remained unbeaten in their first 12 Premier League games before they suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday evening.
Chelsea FC are now in fourth place in the Premier League table and seven points off leaders Manchester City after 13 games of the new campaign.
And despite the Blues seemingly having staked a claim for a title challenge this season, Hazard has now confessed that he and his team-mates are simply targeting a top-four finish in the top flight.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Manchester Evening News, Hazard said: “We are thinking about finishing in the top four, not to be the champions.
“We know City are not much better than Chelsea but they are better at the moment.
“In what areas are City better? A lot of things: possession; when they have chances, they score; maybe defensively they are better. They have top players.
“Is it due to their consistency as well, winning game after game? Yes, of course. They are in a good momentum since last year and we need to be back like this.”
Hazard will be hoping to feature when Chelsea FC look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon when they host Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues finished in fifth place in the Premier League table but won the FA Cup last term in Antonio Conte’s final season in charge.
