Giroud netted the only goal of the game early in the second half as Chelsea FC maintained their 100 per cent record in the Europa League this season and secured their place in the last 32 of Europe’s second tier club competition.
The former Arsenal striker has found his playing time to be somewhat restricted this season, with the forward having only started four of Chelsea FC’s 11 Premier League games so far this term.
However, he has still proved his worth to Sarri’s side by notching up four assists in the Premier League in nine top-flight appearances so far this season.
And Chelsea FC boss Sarri was clearly delighted to see Giroud end up making a big impact as he played the full 90 minutes on Thursday night to maintain the Blues’ unbeaten start to the season in all competitions.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Thursday night, Sarri said of Giroud: “I’m pleased for him.
“He’s a very important player for us, he’s very useful for the team but I know very well that strikers want to score, and so for his confidence it’s very important.
“But I don’t want him to be worried about scoring because for us he’s very important.”
Chelsea FC will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Everton on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues are currently second in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games.
