Chelsea FC have taken note of Callum Wilson’s prolific form for Bournemouth ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report in England.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Blues have been impressed with Wilson’s stunning start to the season for Eddie Howe’s side.

Wilson scored his sixth Premier League goal of the 2018-19 season to break the deadlock in Bournemouth’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United at the Vitality Stadium last weekend.

The same article states that the Blues have been scouting the former England Under-21 international on a regular basis and are set to continue monitoring Wilson until the end of 2018.

According to the same story, the west London outfit are to step up their interest if Wilson’s exciting form continues heading into the January transfer window.

Wilson has netted seven times and has made four assists in 13 games in all competitions this season to fire Bournemouth into the Premier League’s top six.

The 26-year-old has found the net against Manchester United, Fulham, Watford, Cardiff City and West Ham in the Premier League this term.

Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri has relied upon Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata in the initial months of his reign at Stamford Bridge.

However, there is a suggestion in the same Daily Mirror story that the Italian head coach is keen to further bolster his attack heading into the second half of the Premier League campaign.

Former Chelsea FC defender Jason Cundy urged the west London outfit to swoop for Wilson last week ahead of the striker’s goal against Manchester United.

“It’s still early days but he’s starting to reach the same sort of levels even if it’s only ten games where he is now starting to score the sort of goals that will start to catch the eye,” Cundy told talkSPORT.

“He’s going to catch the eye. He’s got an eye for goal, I love his industry and he works incredibly hard.

“Let’s not forget he’s had two bad injuries and he’s had the mental strength to come back from those devastating knee injuries.

“A potential international in the future? I don’t doubt that for a second.

“If he carries on the way he is I think Southgate would be mad to ignore him, mad!

“So the question is who will look to sign him in January before his stock rises to a ridiculous level?

“I’m looking at my club, Chelsea. We’ve got two number nines in Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud. Neither of them are holding down a regular spot.

“And I think with the way Chelsea are playing under Maurizio Sarri, Callum Wilson would be perfect for Chelsea. Perfect!

“He can spin in behind, he’s got an eye for goal and he’s an intelligent player.”

Wilson played a big role in Bournemouth’s promotion to the Premier League after he netted 20 times in 45 games in the Championship in the 2014-15 season.

The Cherries striker has netted 25 goals in the past four seasons in the top flight, having struggled with a number of injury problems.
