Chelsea FC working on deal to sign 24-year-old – report
Maurizio Sarri is keen to bring AC Milan playmaker Suso to Chelsea FC in January, according to a report
Chelsea FC are already working to sign former Liverpool FC playmaker Suso from AC Milan in January, according to a report in Italy.
Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that Maurizio Sarri is keen to sign the Spanish midfielder to improve his attacking options at Chelsea FC.
The same article states that the Blues manager has already started the process of putting together a deal to sign the AC Milan playmaker ahead of the January transfer window.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC will face competition from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid for Suso’s signature after his impressive form for the Italian giants this season.
Chelsea FC’s interest in Suso isn’t farfetched given that Sarri came up against the dynamic playmaker during his stint in charge of AC Milan’s top-four rivals Napoli.
The 24-year-old knows what it takes to succeed in the Premier League after the Spain international broke into the Liverpool FC team during Brendan Rodgers’ spell in charge at Anfield.
However, Suso was allowed to leave the Merseyside outfit in the 2015 summer transfer window after the talented forward opted against signing a new deal with Liverpool FC.
Instead, the former Cadiz star put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the San Siro outfit and Milan paid a €1.3m compensatory fee to the 18-time English champions.
Some Liverpool FC supporters were disappointed to see Suso leave the Merseyside club given his undoubted talent and exceptional performances at youth level.
Suso has scored three goals and has made seven assists in nine appearances in Serie A this season to help Gennaro Gattuso’s side challenge for a top-four spot.
His only goal in 21 games for Liverpool FC came in a victory over Middlesbrough in the League Cup in 2014.
