Top darts stars Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross have had plenty of battles on the big stage, but the pair have now taken their rivalry to a whole new level.

The pair clashed in one of the greatest PDC World Championship matches of all time, with Cross winning their thrilling Ally Pally semi-final back in December 2017.

They have since met three times in the Premier League, with Van Gerwen winning the lot, but Cross gained his revenge with a stylish success in the final of the Brisbane Masters during August.

With this year’s PDC World Championship on the horizon the duo took the chance to take their rivalry to another new dimension in a game of Virtual Reality Darts.

In a promotional video for Betway, Cross and van Gerwen took on the VR challenge to try and determine who held the upper hand over their rival.

Betway Insider

VR gaming has looked to mimic a number of real-life experiences over the past few months, and this latest experiment aimed to prove that the best darters on the planet couldn’t transfer their skills to the virtual world.

At times the talented duo looked like they had never played darts before, but they eventually got to grips with the challenge to push each other to the limit.

The result of the VR clash is unlikely to have much impact on the upcoming World Championship event, but both players certainly proved that their talent transcends the boundaries between real life and virtual reality.
