Mohamed Salah has shed light on his close friendship with Liverpool FC team-mate Dejan Lovren at the Merseyside outfit.

The Egypt international has become one of the most popular players at the Anfield outfit following his £39m move to Liverpool FC from Serie A outfit AS Roma in the summer of 2017.

Salah was an instant hit in his second spell in the Premier League after the African forward netted 44 times in all competitions to finish as one of Europe’s leading goal-scorers.

While Salah has impressed with his relentless performances on the pitch, his time at Liverpool FC away from the pitch has been notable for his friendship with Croatia defender Lovren.

The pair have often posted photos together on social media at the club’s Melwood training ground and in their private lives, while the duo aren’t afraid to make a joke at the other’s expense.

There is a growing African contingent at the 18-time English champions, with Naby Keita and Sadio Mane represented Liverpool FC alongside Salah in the Reds team in the current campaign.

Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website about his understanding with Lovren, Salah explained that it was a mid-season trip to Dubai that was the turning point in their friendship.

“I obviously met Dejan when I first started at Melwood and in the second week of pre-season we started to talk a little bit, but we became closer when we went to Dubai on a mid-season break and then Marbella for the first time for a training camp,” Salah said.

“Now we are always joking together, we’re very close friends now and like to have fun. He is always posting jokes about me on social media, but I like it. In fact, I always tell him I am making him famous in Egypt when he publishes a picture with me in it. He is a great guy.”

Salah netted 32 times in the Premier League last season to finish at the top of the goal-scoring charts after ending up above Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The Egypt international netted 11 times to help Liverpool FC reach the Champions League final before a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in Kiev.

Salah set a new record when he reached 50 goals for Liverpool FC in 65 games, faster than club legends such as Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez.
