Robbie Fowler has warned Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool FC need to win their first trophy under the German manager.

The Merseyside outfit are in a good position in the Premier League title race following a summer of investment in Klopp’s team.

The Reds signed Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri in the summer transfer window to add more depth to the Liverpool FC squad.

Klopp’s side are in second place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of leaders Manchester City after 12 games.

Liverpool FC remain unbeaten after the 18-time English champions earned nine victories and three stalemates.

Only Arsenal, Chelsea FC and Manchester City have managed to stop Liverpool FC from collecting three points in the Premier League this term.

Former Liverpool FC striker Fowler believes Klopp needs to get his hands on a first trophy at the Anfield outfit to cement their progress under the ex-Borussia Dortmund head coach.

“A gauge is getting as high up in the league as they can. As much as we talk about Liverpool being this unbelievable side who are easy on the eye and great to watch, there comes a time when you need to start winning stuff,” Fowler told Sky Sports.

“I think Jurgen Klopp’s getting together a great, great squad but I think one of the problems we have is Manchester City are brilliant.

“That’s one of the big problems. You can get a wonderful side put together but you’ve got to try and catch them and then hang onto their coat tails.”

Liverpool FC are facing a battle to reach the Champions League knockout stage after a 2-0 loss to Red Star Belgrade in Serbia earlier this month.

The Reds will make the trip to Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon in pursuit of successive top-flight victories.

Liverpool FC have lost to Manchester City, Sevilla and Real Madrid in the League Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League finals under Klopp.
