The Reds signed off for the international break with a 2-0 victory over Fulham at Anfield thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri.
Liverpool FC started the weekend in second place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of current leaders and defending champions Manchester City ahead of their trip to Watford.
The Merseyside outfit kept pace with Manchester City thanks to a 3-0 win over the Hornets at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening.
The Merseyside outfit made improvements to their squad in the summer following the signings of Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Shaqiri.
The Liverpool FC quartet have helped to close the gap between Klopp’s side and their title rivals given the Reds finished 25 points behind Manchester City last term.
Alisson has had the biggest impact of the summer signings, complementing the established Liverpool FC back four of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool FC defence conceded five times in 12 Premier League games before their win at Watford on Saturday.
And former Liverpool FC captain McManaman believes the Reds deserve credit for an excellent start to the Premier League campaign.
“Like most people, I’ve been very impressed – very impressed with the summer dealings and very impressed with how they have started the season,” McManaman told Liverpool FC’s website.
“Bar a couple of iffy performances in the Champions League, which we hope they will rectify in the next couple of games, they are doing really well.
“All you can do is worry about what you do in a Liverpool shirt; if you win every single game from now until the end of the season you’ll probably win the league. We know it’s not as easy as that.
“As long as you play your best, try hard and work hard, the fans appreciate that.”
