Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, as quoted by the Sun, is reporting that the Reds are leading the race to sign the France international at the end of the season.
The same article states that the Merseyside outfit are interested in a deal to sign Rabiot on a free transfer from PSG when the 23-year-old’s current contract expires.
According to the same story, Liverpool FC have put together a “powerful” package to sign Rabiot in an attempt to win what promises to be a competitive race to sign the French star.
The PSG youth graduate is attracting interest from La Liga leaders FC Barcelona, defending Premier League champions Manchester City, Serie A title holders Juventus and AC Milan, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Rabiot would be a good addition to the Liverpool FC squad given his experience of winning the Ligue 1 title and reaching the latter stages of the Champions League.
The PSG number 25 has won four Ligue 1 titles, four Coupe de France and five Coupe de Ligue since the defensive midfielder broke in the team over the past seven seasons.
However, Rabiot could struggle to break into the Liverpool FC team on a consistent basis given the strength in depth in the middle of the park under Jurgen Klopp.
The Frenchman would have to compete with English trio James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Guinea international Naby Keita and Brazilian midfielder Fabinho in the middle of the park.
Rabiot has already scored 24 goals in 219 appearances in all competitions since the French talent broke into the PSG team in the 2012-13 season.
The PSG starlet has scored two goals in 11 games in the Ligue 1 this term to help the defending champions build an 11-point lead at the top of the table.
