Manchester United are interested in a potential deal to sign Benfica’s 15-year-old talent Ronaldo Camara, according to a report in Portugal.

Portuguese media outlet Record, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Red Devils are tracking the promising Benfica talent as Manchester United look to ensure they have a bright future.

The same article states that the aptly named Ronaldo has attracted plenty of interest from top clubs in Europe following his excellent performances at youth level.

According to the same story, Ronaldo has already made his mark at Portugal Under-19 level to prove that he is able to compete with players older than 15.

Indeed, Benfica have already given the teenager the chance to shine in the Uefa Youth League with one appearance in the current campaign.

However, Record warns that Manchester United will face stiff competition to sign the exciting Benfica starlet following interest from a number of top European clubs.

Manchester United have a rich pedigree of developing Portuguese talent during the Premier League era.

While their current coach Jose Mourinho is Portuguese, Sir Alex Ferguson was responsible for signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon in 2003.

Under the Scottish manager, Ronaldo blossomed into one of the world’s best players and secured a world record £80m move to Real Madrid in the 2009 summer transfer window.

Nani was another Portuguese player who had a key role to play in their success under Ferguson, winning the Champions League title in 2008.

Mourinho recruited promising Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto in the summer and the 19-year-old impressed in a 3-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League earlier this season.

Manchester United will take on reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in their next fixture at The Etihad on Sunday.
