Ander Herrera has challenged Manchester United to bounce back from their derby disappointment ahead of the visit of Crystal Palace on 24 November.

Jose Mourinho’s side side suffered a 3-1 loss to Manchester City in their derby clash at The Etihad on Sunday evening to end their impressive run of form in the Premier League.

Manchester United had managed to collect 10 points from four Premier League outings to hoist themselves up to eighth place ahead of their short trip across the city.

The Red Devils came from behind to ease to a 2-1 win at Serie A giants Juventus in the Champions League last week to pull off a famous European win.

Manchester City thoroughly outplayed their derby rivals at The Etihad, easing into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

Anthony Martial halved the deficit to offer hope of another comeback but Ilkay Gundogan restored their two-goal cushion to seal three points for the hosts.

The Spain international was disappointing during the derby clash and Herrera misplaced five passes in central midfield in an underwhelming performance.

The 29-year-old was hauled off in the 73rd minute to accommodate Juan Mata in the derby defeat following just 53 touches in the Premier League clash.

However, Herrera, who hasn’t been called up to the Spain squad during the international break, has sent a message to Manchester United supporters following their derby loss.

Herrera wrote on his Instagram page: “There is no time to mourn, already looking forward to the next 🔴”

Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but the Red Devils are struggling in eighth place ahead of the visit of Palace on Saturday 24 November.
