Andy Cole talks up Anthony Martial at Man United
The Man United legend talks up Anthony Martial's performances at Old Trafford
Andy Cole believes Anthony Martial has rediscovered his “mojo” at Manchester United.
The France international has turned a corner at Manchester United in recent weeks to finally realise his undoubted talent at Old Trafford.
Martial was in prolific form throughout October to help the Red Devils collect seven points from three Premier League games.
The 22-year-old netted in a 3-2 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford to help Manchester United end a winless run.
He followed up that goal with a brilliant double in a 2-2 draw with title rivals Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge to earn the Red Devils a valuable point.
Martial won a penalty and scored a second-half goal in a 2-1 victory over Everton to cap a prolific month for the much-maligned Manchester United number 11.
Encouragingly for Manchester United supporters, Martial has carried his form into November with the equaliser in the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend.
Martial is the club’s leading goalscorer with five goals in eight games in the Premier League to help Manchester United hoist themselves up to eighth place in the table.
Former England striker Cole believes Martial has rediscovered his confidence and his form at the 20-time English champions.
“He’s been in and out [of the team] and I have watched him many times obviously being at United,” Cole told Sky Sports News.
“He has got all the ability in the world. However, confidence is massive in football and I think he has got his confidence back now.
“He’s got his mojo back, just [looking at] the way he is playing and the way he is scoring goals. He is on a nice little run.”
Manchester United signed Martial in a £36m deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon in the 2015 summer transfer window.
He didn’t take long to win over Manchester United supporters with a goal on his debut in a 3-1 win over their bitter rivals Liverpool FC.
The Red Devils forward netted 17 times in his debut season under Louis van Gaal’s management but Martial has struggled to hit the same heights since Jose Mourinho took over the reins of the club.
Martial will be aiming to score in his fifth successive Premier League game when Manchester United make the short trip to Manchester City on Sunday.
