Jose Mourinho sends message to Man United board about Ander Herrera – report
Jose Mourinho assures Ander Herrera that he wants the midfielder to stay at Man United, say reports
Jose Mourinho has reassured Ander Herrera that he wants him to stay at Manchester United and has relayed that message to the club’s board, according to reports in the British media.
Metro is reporting that the Red Devils boss is keen for Manchester United to hand the 29-year-old midfielder a new contract, with his current deal set to expire at the end of this season.
According to the same story, Herrera himself is concerned that his stay at Manchester United could be set to come to an end in the coming months.
The article also claims that Herrera will feel that he will have to start looking for a new club if his future is not resolved by January.
The story says that Mourinho held talks with Herrera at the club’s training ground last week and he said that he will go directly to the club’s board to encourage them to resolve the midfielder’s future.
Mourinho also apparently told Herrera that he will be guaranteed more playing time in his team in the coming weeks and months.
Herrera has found his playing time to be somewhat limited this season, with the midfielder having only started one game in the Premier League ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby showdown.
The Spaniard will be hoping to hold down more of a regular role in the first team in the coming weeks and months as the January transfer window draws nearer.
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday 24 November.
