The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Red Devils are looking into bringing in some defensive reinforcements next year as Manchester United look to recover from a stuttering start to the new season.
According to the same article, Mourinho is still pushing for Manchester United to bring in a new central defender this January after they failed to sign one in the summer transfer window.
The story names Milan Skriniar, Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Diego Godin as players they looked at signing in the summer transfer window to bolster their options in defence.
It is not a surprise that Manchester United are being linked with defensive signings ahead of the January window.
Manchester United have struggled at the back this season, with the Red Devils having lost three and drawn two of their opening 10 Premier League games to leave them in eighth place.
They have also conceded 17 goals in their first 10 league games, with only Burnley, Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield letting in more in the top flight so far this season.
The Red Devils have already signed two central defenders under Mourinho’s watch in the form of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof.
However, the Portuguese coach does not seem to have too much faith in the duo, as they have started together just twice for the Red Devils.
