The Sun is reporting that the Italian giants have shown an interest in the 33-year-old, who is capable of playing at left-back or on the left wing to prove a versatile option.
The same article states that AS Roma are putting together a package to tempt Young to the Italian capital ahead of the opening of the January transfer window.
According to the same story, Manchester United have offered Young a new one-year contract extension as the defender’s current deal enters its final eight months.
While The Sun claim AS Roma are keen to sign Young in January to bolster their squad for a top-four push in the Italian top flight, the report adds that the Serie A giants could opt for a pre-contract agreement in January before signing the experienced Premier League star for nothing next summer.
Young has scored 16 times in 213 games in all competitions since his move to Manchester United in a £15m deal in the 2011 summer transfer window.
The former Aston Villa has won the Premier League, the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup during his spell at Old Trafford.
However, The Sun suggests that some Manchester United supporters will be relieved to finally offload the veteran wing-back.
