The Red Devils will be looking to make a return to winning ways following their 3-1 loss to defending champions Manchester City in the derby before November’s international break.
Manchester United were on a four-game unbeaten run but the Red Devils lost ground on the top four to lose for the fourth time in the Premier League campaign.
The 20-time English champions will be hoping to respond when Crystal Palace make the long trip to Old Trafford looking to end a two-game losing run in the Premier League.
The Eagles have lost to Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur in their last two outings and Roy Hodgson’s side are looking to secure their first Premier League win at Old Trafford.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to ease to victory over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
“Crystal Palace have not won any of their past seven games in all competitions, and have managed just four goals in that spell too,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“So this is simply a game that Manchester United have to win – can you imagine the furore from their fans if they don’t?
“It is one thing for United to be out-played and beaten by a team as good as Manchester City, which is what happened in the derby last time out, but it will not be acceptable if they slip up here.”
Manchester United are looking to challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, having already lost to Brighton, Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester City.
The Red Devils are already 12 points adrift of current leaders Manchester City, conceding 21 goals in 12 games to raise serious questions about their defence.
Manchester United have the opportunity to move to within four points of fourth-placed Tottenham ahead of Spurs’ clash against Chelsea FC on Saturday evening.
