Jurgen Klopp’s side have made a solid start to the new season under the German manager and they are currently third in the Premier League table and two points off top spot after 11 games.
Liverpool FC have taken six points from their opening three Champions League fixtures and they will be hoping to claim the win on Tuesday night in Serbia to take a step towards reaching the first knockout round of Europe’s elite club competition.
Last season’s runners-up are currently top of Group C and one point clear of Napoli at the midway point of the group stage.
However, the Reds are looking to find some form in the Champions League, with Klopp’s men having lost three of their last five European matches.
There is a lot at stake for Red Star Belgrade heading into Tuesday night’s game, as they will be eliminated from Europe’s elite club competition if they lose to Liverpool FC and Napoli win at home against Paris Saint-Germain.
Former Arsenal star Nicholas seems to think that the Reds will take all three points with a 2-0 victory.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “This is a volatile situation so not taking Xherdan Shaqiri they’re trying to diffuse the situation.
“The front three still aren’t firing on all cylinders but they’re still a handful, especially Sadio Mane.
“These games are always tough to start off with and Red Star Belgrade will give Liverpool plenty to deal with in the opening stages but once they get over that then they’ve got the skill to get a couple of goals.”
Liverpool FC head into the game fresh from their 1-1 Premier League draw at Arsenal on Saturday night.
