Charlie Nicholas is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to ease to a 2-1 win against Inter Milan in the Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday night.

Spurs need to beat the Serie A side to maintain their slim chance of reaching the Champions League knockout stage after a difficult campaign so far.

Inter Milan are three points ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s men and a draw will be enough to see the San Siro outfit progress to the last 16.

Tottenham started their Champions League campaign at the San Siro in September and appeared to be heading for three points after Christian Eriksen’s opener.

However, late goals from Mauro Icardi and Matías Vecino in the final four minutes helped Inter Milan to secure a 2-1 win over Spurs in Italy.

Tottenham are in promising form after Spurs were 3-1 winners against bitter rivals Chelsea FC in the Premier League at Wembley last weekend.

Former Arsenal playmaker Nicholas believes Spurs will edge to a 2-1 victory over Inter Milan and keep their hopes of reaching the Champions League knockout stage alive.

“I’m expecting Spurs to win it, but it’ll be tough,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“I’m pretty sure Inter won’t defend the way David Luiz did for Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday but, although the Italians are desperate to build their reputation back up in Europe, I expect Spurs to have enough.”

Tottenham are in the midst of a huge week after their 3-1 win over Chelsea FC last weekend before a home clash against Inter Milan in the Champions League and a trip to Arsenal in the north London derby on Sunday.

Spurs have scored six goals and conceded once in their last two Champions League meetings against Inter.
