Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in a deal to sign to Hertha Berlin starlet Arne Maier, according to a report in England.

The Sun is reporting that the Premier League duo are keeping tabs on Maier, who has been likened to Germany legend Toni Kroos.

The same article states that Hertha Berlin are looking to secure a transfer fee in the region of £15m for the talented midfielder.

However, The Sun suggests that Arsenal and Manchester United would probably need to offer around the £30m-mark to secure Maier’s signature.

According to the same story, Maier’s progress has earned him a call up to the Germany squad.

The Hertha star has made 14 appearances, having racked up 1,260 minutes in the Bundesliga this term.

Maier came through the academy at Hertha Berlin before he broke into the German team in the 2016-17 season.

Arsenal would probably be the more attractive proposition at the moment given that the Gunners are in fifth place in the Premier League table.

Manchester United are eight points adrift of Unai Emery’s side in the race to secure a place in the Champions League.

Arsenal will welcome Southampton in Sunday’s early kick-off before the Red Devils will make the trip to Liverpool FC in the Premier League next weekend.
