Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Isco in a swap deal involving Mesut Ozil, according to reports in the British media.

The Independent is reporting that Arsenal are set to “investigate” the possibility of a deal next year following Ozil’s patchy form for the Gunners.

The same story says that Arsenal are likely to listen to offers for Ozil in the new year after he fell out of favour under Unai Emery at the north London side.

Ozil has been used sparingly in recent weeks and Arsenal boss Emery has hinted that his recent decisions to drop him have been tactical.

According to the same story, some club figures feel that a move for Arsenal to sign Isco in a swap deal involving Ozil may be possible next year.

However, the same article goes on to say that Arsenal’s transfer budget is likely to be restricted in January, and that could mean Emery waits until the summer to bolster his squad.

Isco has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the Real Madrid team this season and he has only scored one goal and made two assists in 11 La Liga games so far this term.
