The Lilywhites will make the short trip across north London to take on their bitter rivals fresh from a big week for Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Spurs have answered questions about their ability to challenge for the Premier League and the Champions League with two big victories.
Tottenham were 3-1 winners against title rivals Chelsea FC at Wembley last weekend in what has been described as their best performance of the season so far.
Spurs followed up their London derby triumph with a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League to keep their hopes of securing a last-16 spot alive.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are unbeaten in 11 games in the Premier League, although their only real test during that run was a 1-1 draw with Liverpool FC last month.
Former Tottenham manager Sherwood appeared to suggest Arsenal are favourites to win the north London derby.
“It gives everyone belief that they [Arsenal] can possibly get into the top four,” Sherwood told Sky Sports.
“They are going to get nearer towards Tottenham and if they can keep their eye on Tottenham and finish above them, then they will finish in the top four.
“So this game will be a good measure of how far they have come – they played some big teams earlier in the season and fell short.
“The Liverpool performance was good at the Emirates and they will need that sort of performance again and Tottenham not to be on song.
“Tottenham have the best players, I believe, but the best players do not always win the game. Sometimes the best team do on the day and I think they will need everything to fall their way on the weekend to get a result.”
Arsenal have failed to win seven of their last eight games against Tottenham to suggest their has been a power shift in north London.
Spurs were 1-0 winners against Arsenal in Arsene Wenger’s last-ever north London derby thanks to Harry Kane’s goal at Wembley earlier this year.
