The Gunners playmaker has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Arsenal team in the current campaign.
Ozil was a noticeable absentee from Emery’s squad for their 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup semi-final last week.
The German midfielder hasn’t started a Premier League game since a 1-1 draw with Wolves at The Emirates on 11 November.
Ozil was in Emery’s XI for their 1-0 victory over Qarabag in the Europa League earlier this month before he came off the bench in Arsenal’s 3-2 loss at Southampton last weekend.
The retired Germany international didn’t feature in Arsenal’s 4-2 win over Tottenham in their Premier League meeting earlier this month, while he was absent for a 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Ozil missed the two games against their top-six rivals due to a back problem, with reports suggesting that the club’s best-paid player incurred the injury playing too many video games.
A report on Friday suggested that Arsenal are looking to sell Ozil to get his salary off the wage bill and free up funds for Emery to further revamp his squad.
However, Emery insisted that Ozil does have a future at the club in his media conference on Friday.
“I want every player with a good mentality to help us and give us their characteristics and quality,” Emery said. “We need Mesut Ozil.
“Every player wants to play and be okay to help the team when we need.
“The frustration is the same for everybody when they didn’t play in a match.
“But I spoke with him and with regularity in the season, telling him what we need from him and he has the commitment to help us and the quality and the characteristics to help us.”
