Michael Owen is tipping Liverpool FC to notch up their fifth successive victory at high-flying Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds were 3-1 winners against Burnley at Turf Moor in mid-week after goals from James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri overturned a 1-0 deficit in the second half.

Liverpool FC moved back to within two points of Premier League leaders Manchester City thanks to their 3-1 win after the Citizens had sealed a 2-1 victory at Watford on Tuesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have the chance to hoist themselves above Manchester City and into first place in the Premier League standings with a win at Bournemouth in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Indeed, Liverpool FC have the chance to occupy top spot before Manchester City take on fourth-placed Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

Klopp, who won the Bundesliga crown in 2011 and 2012 at Borussia Dortmund, will understand the importance of beating Bournemouth to put pressure on Manchester City ahead of their tough trip to Chelsea FC.

And former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing the Reds to ease to a comfortable win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

“Bournemouth bounced back after four successive Premier League losses to beat Huddersfield at the Vitality Stadium in midweek although they were far from impressive,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Liverpool have made their best-ever start to a top-flight season after coming from behind to beat Burnley on Wednesday, but still trail City by a couple of points.

“The Reds unsung hero James Milner will play his 500th Premier League game at the Vitality Stadium and it was no surprise to me that it was Milner who was the catalyst for Liverpool’s dramatic comeback against the Clarets in midweek.”

Liverpool FC have won 12 times and drawn three games in the Premier League this season.

The Reds have the best defensive record in the Premier League in the current campaign to underline their progress.
