The Gunners signed off for Christmas with a 3-1 win against Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon to make a return to winning ways.
Arsenal lost for the first time since August at St Mary’s earlier this month when the north London side slumped to a 3-2 loss to Southampton.
That defeat brought to an end a 14-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League, which had put Unai Emery’s men back in contention for fourth spot.
Arsenal will take on a Brighton side that have lost their last three games in the Premier League to drop down to 13th place in the table.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes the Gunners will secure successive Premier League victories at Brighton on Wednesday afternoon.
“At home, Brighton are a different kettle of fish to away from home (although they were a little unlucky to lose at Bournemouth on Saturday), while Arsenal will be buoyant after seeing Chelsea lose,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Now all of a sudden, the top four is realistic and I think Arsenal will win this game 3-2.”
Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last season to miss out on Champions League football for the second successive campaign.
The Gunners appointed Emery as their new manager in the summer after Arsene Wenger’s disappointing final season in charge.
Arsenal have only lost to Chelsea FC, Manchester City and Southampton in the current campaign.
