Michael Owen is backing Eden Hazard to prove the difference between Chelsea FC and Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues will be looking to secure back-to-back Premier League victories to cement their position in the top four.

Chelsea FC became the first Premier League team to beat Manchester City this season following last weekend’s 2-0 victory over the defending champions.

The west London side moved to within seven points of Pep Guardiola’s men, although Liverpool FC are eight points ahead of Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Hazard has scored seven goals and has made eight goals in 15 games in the Premier League this season.

The Belgium international hit the ground running in the Premier League under Sarri before Hazard suffered an injury in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United in October.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is tipping Hazard to fire Chelsea FC to a narrow win against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

“Chelsea have lost their last couple of Premier League games on the road, but they are a quality outfit and are taken to take the points back to the capital even though Brighton have only lost one of their last ten home Premier League games,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Chelsea have won all six games between the clubs in top-flight English football and the last time Brighton beat the Blues in any competition was a 1933 3rd Round FA Cup tie!

“Eden Hazard has provided an assist in his last three Premier League games and the Belgian international has been back to his brilliant best of late.

“He might be the difference between the sides at the Amex.”

Chelsea FC finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last season to culminate in Antonio Conte’s dismissal.

Hazard played a key role in Chelsea FC’s title successes in 2014-15 and 2016-17 under Jose Mourinho and Conte.

Sarri will know that getting Hazard firing will be vital if Chelsea FC are to have a successful domestic campaign.

Hazard moved to Chelsea FC in a big-money deal from Lille in 2012.
