Gary Lineker raves about Alisson’s save in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 win at Burnley
The Spurs legend was impressed with Alisson Becker's save in Liverpool FC's 3-1 win at Burnley on Wednesday night
Gary Lineker reserved special praise for Alisson Becker on Twitter after the Liverpool FC goalkeeper played a key role in their 3-1 win at Burnley on Wednesday night.
The Reds travelled to Turf Moor fresh from a dramatic 1-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby at the weekend following Divock Origi’s 95th-minute winner at Anfield.
Alisson had only conceded five times in the Premier League this season ahead of their clash against Burnley to help Liverpool FC secure the best defensive record in the league.
His opposite number Joe Hart made a brilliant save to stop Naby Keita in the second half before Burnley made the breakthrough in the 54th minute thanks to Jack Cork’s goal from a corner.
Liverpool FC vice captain James Milner levelled eight minutes later with a low finish from outside the penalty area before Roberto Firmino silenced his critics with his fourth goal of the Premier League season after his introduction from the bench.
The Reds were forced to dig deep as Burnley launched an aerial bombardment and Alisson had to produce a world-class fingertip save to keep out a header before Xherdan Shaqiri finished off a counter-attacking move at the other end of the pitch.
Match Of The Day host Lineker took to social media to highlight Alisson’s vital save in the dying moments of Liverpool FC’s 3-1 win at Burnley.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Klopp’s gamble pays off thanks to a sensational save from Alisson which led to a breakaway for Shaqiri to clinch it at 3-1.”
Liverpool FC are in second place and two points behind Manchester City ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.
