The France international has been used in a more advanced role in the Premier League season so far, despite establishing himself as one of the league’s best holding midfielders.
Chelsea FC signed Jorginho from Sarri’s former club Napoli in a £57m deal in the summer transfer window to bolster the Italian’s options in the middle of the park.
The Italy international has been utilised in a defensive midfield role, which has forced Sarri to resort to using Kante in an advanced position.
Jorginho was exposed during Chelsea FC’s 3-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last weekend, particularly for Son Heung-min’s goal at Wembley.
Former Arsenal striker Wright expressed his surprise that Sarri is persisting with Kante in an attacking midfield role despite the other talented playmakers at his disposal.
“It [Kante’s position under Sarri] has been quite confusing to me,” Wright told BBC Sport.
“He is arguably one of the best midfielders in the world. Listening to his manager saying he can score more goals when he has got midfielders who can score goals is baffling to me.”
Chelsea FC dropped down to fourth place in the Premier League table last weekend following their 3-1 loss to Tottenham at Wembley in the London derby.
Indeed, their defeat ended their unbeaten start to the Premier League season under Sarri, who replaced his compatriot Antonio Conte in the summer.
Chelsea FC collected 28 points from their opening 12 games before last weekend’s 3-1 loss at Spurs.
