The France international is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and he has already won the Premier League title twice – once with Leicester City and again with Chelsea FC.
Kante’s position in midfield, though, has been a source of debate in recent weeks, with new Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri having deployed the 27-year-old in a slightly more advanced role to fit Jorginho into his team.
There have been questions raised about whether Kante is as effective in a more advanced role for Chelsea FC.
However, Chelsea FC striker Giroud does not feel that his position affects his performances, with his fellow France international sticking up for his club and international team-mate.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Giroud said: “I think N’Golo can play every single position in midfield.
“Jorginho or Cesc are the holding midfielders and they are playing a very important part in our game, so maybe in the manager’s mind N’Golo is more efficient playing box to box.
“He can be more efficient carrying the ball and finding passes between the lines. We know how fast he is, so when he recovers the ball he can perforate the lines, that’s one of his main strengths.
“It’s a good position for him. Maybe he needs to be more selfish around the box, when he has the opportunity to shoot. I am pretty sure he will score more goals.
“We don’t need to question his position; we need to adapt to what the manager wants.”
Giroud scored twice in Chelsea FC’s 4-0 Europa League win over PAOK on Thursday night.
Both him and Kante will be hoping to feature when the Blues return to Premier League action on Sunday lunchtime with a home clash against Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea FC are currently fourth in the Premier League table and seven points off top spot.
