The west London side became the first team to beat Pep Guardiola’s team in the Premier League this season as they moved up to third place in the table.
N’Golo Kante gave the home side the lead on the stroke of half-time when he drilled home Eden Hazard’s cut-back.
And David Luiz then scored a header from a corner in the second half to make the points secure for the west London side.
The result was a welcome one after Chelsea FC’s defeat by Wolves in midweek.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has clearly been impressed by the impact Sarri has had at Stamford Bridge since taking over from Antonio Conte in the summer.
Speaking on BT Sport immediately after the final whistle, Ferdinand said: “Chelsea, to their credit, were fantastic in the second half.
“They weathered the storm in the first half and rode their luck, and then came out in the second half…
“I think this Chelsea team are a real reflection of their manager’s personality. They are on the front foot and have the personality to go out there and play.
“They don’t sit back and when the chances came today, they put them away.”
Chelsea FC will now switch their attentions back towards Europa League affairs and their clash against Vidi on Thursday night.
The Blues will then travel to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
