Chelsea FC star responds to talk of a new contract
Maurizio Sarri insists that he is not thinking about signing a new contract at Chelsea FC
Antonio Rudiger has insisted that he is not thinking about signing a new contract at Chelsea FC.
The German defender has been settling in well to life at Stamford Bridge since signing for the Blues from AS Roma last summer.
The 25-year-old has been a constant presence in the Chelsea FC team so far this season and has scored one goal in 17 games for the west London side in the Premier League.
His solid form has prompted suggestions that he could be in line to get a new and improved contract, but the player himself says he knows nothing about such claims.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Rudiger said: “That’s not the case to be honest.
“There’s no need, because I still have three-and-a-half years to go. There’s no speaking between me and the club.
“It’s also not necessary at the moment either with three-and-a-half years to go.”
Rudiger will be hoping to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues host Bournemouth in the quarter-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
The Blues were 2-1 winners at Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday as they moved up to fourth place in the Premier League table.
Maurizio Sarri has been tasked with steering the Blues back into the Champions League spots after they finished in fifth place and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte last term.
