The Blues boss is currently getting used to life in charge at Stamford Bridge after having been appointed as the club’s new manager back in July.
The west London side have made something of a decent start to the Premier League season, with the Blues among the contenders to secure a top-four finish in the top flight.
Chelsea FC are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window gives Sarri the chance to bolster his squad midway through the season.
Now, the Italian manager has appeared to indicate that the Blues could move to bring in a new player in January.
Speaking at his news conference before the showdown with Manchester City on Saturday, Sarri said: “We need to change mentality – not because the old mentality was bad but it is not suitable with the new way of playing.
“Then after all this, maybe you need one player.
“But you cannot think you can buy 11 new players without problems. Then the problems will be the same.
“You have to create a new mentality and style of playing. We need to arrive at 95 per cent of our potential, then we can get the last five per cent with a new player.”
Chelsea FC will return to Europa League action on Thursday night with a clash against Vidi.
The Blues will then travel to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League next Sunday afternoon.
Sarri was brought in as the Blues’ new manager after Chelsea FC sacked Antonio Conte following their fifth-placed finish and FA Cup triumph under Antonio Conte last term.
