The Reds started the Premier League clash knowing that a win would take them nine points clear of second-placed Tottenham, who lost 3-1 to Wolves at Wembley earlier on Saturday.
Arsenal, though, broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when Ashley Maitland-Niles finished from close range after Andy Robertson was caught out of position.
However, Liverpool FC were level three minutes later when Roberto Firmino capitalised on some poor defending to poke a finish into the vacated net and score his first goal of the season at Anfield.
Firmino doubled the home side’s lead two minutes later when he evaded challenges from Shkoran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopolous before the Brazilian slotted a finish past Bernd Leno.
The Reds managed to secure a two-goal cushion when Mohamed Salah’s cross found Sadio Mane and the Senegal international guided his strike into the roof of the net.
The Premier League leaders completed a sensational first-half performance when Salah netted from the penalty spot in injury time after Sokratis fouled the Egypt international.
Firmino completed his hat-trick in the second half with a penalty to leave Liverpool FC with a nine-point advantage over second-placed Tottenham in the table.
Former Spurs striker Lineker spoke enthrusiastically about Firmino’s second goal.
Lineker posted on social media: “Bobby at his bamboozling, brilliant best. Bravo 👏 👏”
Match Of The Day host Lineker praised Liverpool FC’s brilliant performance in the opening 45 minutes at Anfield.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “What a first half from @LFC. Inspired, incisive, imaginative, inventive, in front.”
