Joe Gomez is starting to develop a reading of the game similar to England legends Ashley Cole and John Terry, Garth Crooks has informed Liverpool FC supporters.

The Reds star has been one of Liverpool FC’s best players in the current campaign alongside the world’s most expensive defender, Virgil van Dijk.

Gomez has also benefitted from having a steady shot stopper in the Liverpool FC goal following the arrival of Alisson in an £67m deal from AS Roma in the summer.

The 21-year-old has earned rave reviews for his composed performances at centre-half, while Gomez has shown his versatility when asked to play at right-back.

Liverpool FC kept their ninth clean sheet of the Premier League season last weekend after the Reds were narrow 1-0 winners against Everton at Anfield.

However, Gomez picked up a serious injury in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 win at Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool FC’s 4-0 win at Bournemouth on Saturday, former Spurs legend Crooks has been impressed with Gomez’s progress in the Liverpool FC team this season.

“Regular readers will know what I think of Joe Gomez so I won’t waste any more column inches on that,” Crooks told BBC Sport.

“Suffice to say this: How the England centre-back kept the ball out of Liverpool’s net with Allison beaten during Sunday’s game with Everton, I will never know.

“Gomez is starting to display a sixth sense when it comes to the dangers in and around his own penalty area. Defenders such as Ashley Cole and John Terry had it, and so does this lad.”

Gomez moved to Liverpool FC in a £4.5m deal from Charlton Athletic in the 2015 summer transfer window under Brendan Rodgers.

The England international suffered a serious knee injury to miss out on the chance to impress Klopp after the German’s appointment in October 2015.

Gomez made two assists in 31 appearances in all competitions last term, before the centre-half established himself as first-choice this season.
