Andy Robertson sends message to Alisson after Liverpool FC mistake
Andy Robertson sticks up for Alisson after Liverpool FC's 3-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday
Andy Robertson has defended Alisson Becker after his error led to a goal in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Brazilian shot-stopper was at fault after he spilled the ball into the path of Jesse Lingard for the Red Devils’ equaliser in the first half of the clash at Anfield.
Substitute Xherdan Shaqiri came off the bench to score twice in the second half to wrap up a solid victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Alisson has been earning lots of praise for his performances for Liverpool FC since his move to Anfield from AS Roma in the summer.
And Robertson insists that he and his Liverpool FC team-mates have been hugely impressed with the goalkeeper’s performances so far for Klopp’s men.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports, Robertson said: “He has been unbelievable this season and we all make mistakes.
“If Mo Salah or [Roberto] Firmino make a mistake it maybe doesn’t get punished because it is up the other end but that is unfortunately what a keeper has to put up with, if they make a mistake it usually turns into a goal.
“Of course, he will be disappointed with it but he bounced back and we can’t moan about it. He has dug us out Tuesday night and we are still in the Champions League because of him.”
Liverpool FC are the last remaining unbeaten team in the Premier League and they are currently preparing for their trip to Wolves on Friday night.
They are one point clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table as they look to try and win their first trophy under Jurgen Klopp.
