Martin Keown praised Liverpool FC for showing “fighting” qualities after the Reds came from a goal down to seal a 3-1 win at Burnley on Wednesday night in the Premier League.

The Merseyside outfit have established themselves as Manchester City’s closest challengers for the Premier League title this season as they look to win their first major trophy under Jurgen Klopp.

Burnley took the lead at Turf Moor through Jack Cork – but three second-half goals from James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri wrapped up an impressive comeback win for the Reds.

The victory was a crucial one in the Premier League title race, as it kept Klopp’s men to within two points of leaders Manchester City at the top of the table.

And former Arsenal defender Keown feels that Klopp’s side deserve praise for the battling qualities they showed at Turf Moor to be able to claim all three points.

Speaking on Match of the Day, Keown said: “The fighting qualities they [Liverpool FC] showed tonight were outstanding.

“Burnley pushed them all the way in this match. 3-1 makes it look comfortable but it really wasn’t. It was a real battle for them.”

Liverpool FC will now turn their attentions towards their trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.

The Reds will be hoping to claim all three points and then see Manchester City slip up when the Citizens travel to Chelsea FC in the late kick-off on Saturday.
