Liverpool FC have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the top-flight title this season and they pulled further clear at the top of the table on Boxing Day.
The Reds claimed a thumping 4-0 win over Newcastle United to keep their place at the top of the table and extend their lead at the top to six points.
Manchester City slumped to a surprising 2-1 loss to Leicester City to allow Tottenham Hotspur to move above them into second place in the table.
Meanwhile, Arsenal were pegged back and held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Brighton and Hove Albion on Boxing Day to leave them trailing Tottenham by seven points.
Lineker was challenged on Twitter by celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan to put a bet on Tottenham winning the Premier League this season, but the former England star rejected the offer.
Replying to Morgan’s offer of a bet, Lineker wrote on Twitter: “No, I think Liverpool will win the league. But I reckon they [Tottenham] will finish above Arsenal.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday night when they take on Arsenal at Anfield.
They will then take on Manchester City next week as they look to further extend their lead at the top of the table.
