Jurgen Klopp hails Liverpool FC star in ‘good moment’
Jurgen Klopp praises Virgil van Dijk for his fine form for Liverpool FC this season
Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise on Virgil van Dijk following his brilliant performances for Liverpool FC of late.
The Netherlands international scored Liverpool FC’s second goal as they claimed a 2-0 win over Wolves on Friday night to secure their place at the top of the Premier League table over Christmas.
Liverpool FC are looking to win the Premier League title this season and they are the only remaining unbeaten team left in the top flight.
Van Dijk has been settling into life at Liverpool FC in brilliant fashion after having signed for the Reds from Southampton in the January transfer window earlier this year.
The defender has helped to bring some much needed solidity to the back four and has been widely praised for his fine performances of late.
And Klopp has singled out Van Dijk for special praise after his solid display in the 2-0 win at Wolves on Friday night.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Klopp said: “I have no problem talking about individual performances, we do this constantly – but to the players, to the specific players.
“He [Van Dijk] is in a good moment, he is very important for us and hopefully he can stay like this.
“The work-rate in general is just outstanding. I love the boy, but the two in front of him [Fabinho and Henderson], what they have to cover, they have to run much more to make life halfway comfortable for the centre-halves, so they did well.
“Dejan [Lovren] as well, playing after he had not a perfect pre-season and all that stuff, but now having game after game and that’s all good.
“Without that, we don’t have a chance. We won, deserved, and Virg played a proper part in that.”
Liverpool FC will return to action with a home clash against Newcastle United on Boxing Day before tricky games against Arsenal and Manchester City further test their Premier League title credentials.
