Liverpool FC are “serious competitors” in the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to a report in Germany.
Abendzeitung, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Reds are ready to compete with Bayern Munich for the 22-year-old’s signature.
The same article states that Liverpool FC have already scouted the Germany international on a number of occasions ahead of a potential bid.
According to the same story, the Premier League leaders have held discussions about potentially signing the striker to bolster their already impressive attacking line up.
Werner, who has 23 caps for the German national team, has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances in the Bundesliga this season to continue his fine form for the German club.
Liverpool FC have already raided RB Leipzig once in 2018 after the Merseyside outfit signed Guinea international Naby Keita in a £48m deal in the summer transfer window.
The Reds have Daniel Sturridge as their only recognised out-and-out striker in their squad with a proven record in the Premier League, while Dominic Solanke and Divock Origi remain relatively untested.
Klopp has utilised Roberto Firmino in a false number nine role during the majority of his three years in charge at the Anfield side, although Mohamed Salah has started their last two Premier League games in a central role.
