Dalot has been getting used to life at Old Trafford after having arrived at the club from FC Porto back in June.
The 19-year-old has found his first-team opportunities to be limited so far this season, however, with Dalot having only featured twice in all competitions for Mourinho’s men.
Nevertheless, the teenager did look impressive when he played the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League back in September.
Mourinho has found himself under constant scrutiny this season due to his Manchester United side’s stuttering form.
The Red Devils have struggled to string together positive results, and the currently sit seventh in the Premier League table and 14 points off leaders Manchester City.
However, Dalot has now explained how Mourinho played a key role in convincing him to sign for the Red Devils.
Speaking in an interview quoted on Manchester United’s website, Dalot said: “Jose was a big influence on me coming here.
“He was very important. His history speaks for itself, the way he is coaching and the way that he has made football change.
“It is the fact that is he is Portuguese too. The relationship that he has with the players is very good, and it was quite impressive to me.
“He pushed me to come here and the way that he believed in me was very good. That is why I am here. He is a big reason why I came.”
Manchester United will take on Southampton in the Premier League away from home on Saturday evening.
