Gary Neville makes prediction about Jose Mourinho at Man United
Gary Neville has his say on Jose Mourinho's situation at Manchester United
Gary Neville has revealed his belief that Jose Mourinho’s days at Manchester United are numbered.
The Portuguese coach has found himself under intense pressure at Old Trafford in recent months following Manchester United’s stuttering start to the new season.
Manchester United have struggled to find consistent form all term, and their 3-1 loss to Liverpool FC at Anfield in the Premier League has only served to fuel further doubts about Mourinho’s situation.
Indeed, the Red Devils are now sixth in the Premier League table and a staggering 19 points behind leaders Liverpool FC after their fifth defeat of the season in the top flight.
There are bound to be questions raised about Mourinho’s position given the Red Devils’ poor form.
Former Manchester United star Neville feels that Mourinho is likely to leave Old Trafford soon, but he admits that he would rather it be delayed until the end of the current campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Sunday’s game, Neville said: “Will Mourinho leave? I think it will happen, my preference would always be to get to the end of the season.
“But the board room is so naive it’s unbelievable. To give him an extended contract, knowing his cycle of every three years, was incredible.
“The minute he came back from pre season he was at it and the club was out of control. Nobody above him can handle him. They don’t know what to do with him, they don’t know what to say to him. They don’t know what he’s going to sat at every press conference.
“It will cost a fortune to lose him now. Are they going to get the manager they want? It’s not as easy as that. They need to reset.”
Manchester United will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Cardiff City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League but without a trophy last season.
