Man United legend claims Alexis Sanchez could seek move back to Arsenal
Man United legend Andrei Kanchelskis suggest a surprise return to Arsenal could be on the cards for Alexis Sanchez
Alexis Sanchez could move back to Arsenal from Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to Andrei Kanchelskis.
The Manchester United forward has struggled to hit the ground running since the Chile international completed a move to Old Trafford in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils managed to see off competition from defending Premier League champions Manchester City to sign the Chile forward to bolster their attacking options.
Sanchez, though, managed to score three goals in 18 games in all competitions in the second half of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
The South American forward’s form hasn’t improved in the current campaign after Sanchez netted one goal in 12 games in the Champions League and the Premier League.
Sanchez, who is currently out injured, has found himself out of favour in recent weeks under Jose Mourinho to fuel questions about his long-term future at the 20-time English champions.
Former Manchester United forward Kanchelskis believes Sanchez could leave Old Trafford to secure a return to Arsenal at the end of the campaign.
“Sanchez was the main man at Arsenal, but he’s just another player at United and he hasn’t been able to adapt to that,” Kanchelskis told bWIN.
“He was loved by the Arsenal fans and got to be their idol, which pumped him with confidence every week, but with other major stars around him at United, he is failing to meet expectations.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sanchez look for a move back to Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
“The only issue is, will he be able to demand the same wage if he leaves Man United. He’ll want to secure Champions League football, which Arsenal look more likely to gain as it stands.”
Sanchez established himself as one of the Premier League’s best attacking players during three and a half seasons at the north London side.
The Chile forward has won two FA Cup crowns during his spell in England football.
