Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as the interim Manchester United manager last week before a brilliant 5-1 win at Cardiff City in his opening game in charge.
The Red Devils suffered a humiliating 3-1 loss to bitter rivals Liverpool FC at Anfield in their final game under Jose Mourinho before his dismissal.
Bailly was drafted into the team for the Anfield trip after Chris Smalling suffered an injury in the warm up to start for the fifth time in the Premier League season.
While the Ivory Coast international acquitted himself as well as could be expected given the circumstances, Bailly has found himself behind Victor Lindelof and Smalling throughout most of the season.
Pogba was named on the bench for the trip to Merseyside but Mourinho resisted the temptation to call upon the World Cup winner.
The 25-year-old’s final Premier League start under Mourinho came in a disappointing 2-2 draw with Southampton in the Premier League last month.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas believes Bailly and Pogba could be sacrificed in the January transfer window to trigger an overhaul of the squad.
“We’ve not seen that big-game player [in Pogba],” Nicholas told Sky Sports before Pogba notched up two assists in the 5-1 win over Cardiff on Saturday.
“If he’s saying: ‘I’m staying and not moving’, then Pogba has to leave.
“And I would suggest two or three other players as in Bailly, I think I would move him on if I could, and possibly one or two others that’s within this group that I would happily say: ‘give me whatever money we can get and get them out’.”
