Bukayo Saka sends message to Arsenal fans after Premier League debut
Bukayo Saka reveals his delight at making his Premier League debut with Arsenal this week
Bukayo Saka has admitted that he felt “blessed” to be able to make his Premier League debut during Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Fulham on New Year’s Day.
Saka came off the bench to replace Alex Iwobi for the final few minutes of the top flight clash as he became the first player born in 2001 to make an appearance in the top flight.
The 17-year-old also made two appearances in the Europa League for Unai Emery’s men this season and he will be hoping to keep impressing in a Gunners shirt.
And the teenager has revealed his delight at being able to make his first Premier League appearance for the north London club.
Speaking in an interview with Arsenal’s website after the game, Saka said: “Right now I’m feeling so happy.
“I feel blessed to have made my debut and get minutes on the pitch. I just want to thank my family, my friends and everyone at the club who’s helped me to get to this stage.
“It’s been a tough stage, a long stage, but through hard work and determination I managed to get here.
“I’m not stopping now. I’m very hungry. I just want to work hard with every chance I get. In training I just want to impress the coach so I can get back on the pitch.”
Arsenal will begin their FA Cup campaign on Saturday night when they take on Blackpool in the third round.
The north London side are hoping to try and break back into the top four this season after having missed out on Champions League qualification for the last two seasons running.
The Gunners currently find themselves in fifth place in the Premier League table as they attempt to climb into the top four.
